Nate D. Sanders Auctions has sold the following space memorabilia:
Beautiful limited edition lithograph of the late Neil Armstrong, signed by both Armstrong and NASA artist Paul Calle, dated 16 July 1969, the day Armstrong suited up and embarked on the Apollo 11 mission to the moon. Calle was one of the eight artists chosen by NASA in 1962 to document the U.S. Space program, designing various space-related postage stamps. He was the only artist present when the crew of Apollo 11 prepared for launch, and he designed the ”First Man on the Moon” postage stamp celebrating Armstrong’s momentous first step. Pencil sketch is numbered 625/1000 and depicts Armstrong in profile, in his NASA space suit. Armstrong and Calle both signed this print in pencil at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum on 23 December 1976, to raise money for the Charles Lindbergh Memorial Fund. Lithograph is matted and framed to an overall size of 27” x 35”. Fine condition. Sold for $4,652.

The signatures on the limited edition piece comprise: “Neil Armstrong” of Apollo 11 and Gemini 8; Mercury 7 members “Alan Shepard” and “John Glenn”; “Wally Schirra”, “Jim Lovell” and “Gene Cernan” representing each of the three Gemini groups; “Charles Conrad” who famously saved the station in Skylab 2; “Rick Hauck” of three different Space Shuttle missions; and “Jack Lousma” of Skylab 3 and STS 3. The title, “Naval Aviation in Space” appears across artist Robert L. Rasmussen’s space travel images. This lithograph is signed “Bob Rasmussen” and hand-marked No. 175 of just 1000. All signatures are in pencil. Print near the bottom reads “Naval Aviation Museum Foundation”. Measures 25″ x 30″. Near fine. With COA from the National Museum of Naval Aviation. Sold for $4,867.
Huge Lithograph With all of the Moonwalker s Autograph Except One — Includes Three Deceased Members
Enormous signed 31” x 25” color lithograph of the twelve astronauts who have flown to the moon. The late Jim Irwin was the first to sign the print in 1986 and 10 other moonwalkers have added their autographs over the years. All six lunar landings are represented by the 11 moonwalkers who have signed this print: Buzz Aldrin, Pete Conrad, Alan Bean, Alan Shepard, Edgar Mitchell, Jim Irwin, Dave Scott, Charlie Duke, John Young, Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt. The remaining moonwalker, Neil Armstrong is the only one who didn’t sign. Lithograph was painted by artist Ron Lewis, in an edition of 1,000, signed and numbered. Printed on acid-free, very heavy stock in pristine condition. Each portrait was done from the astronaut’s NASA white space suit portrait, and beside each bust is a small vignette of the astronaut in action (Conrad with Surveyor, Shepard’s chip shot, etc.). Three of the astronauts who signed, including the first man in space, Alan Shepard; the third man on the moon, Charles Conrad; and James Irwin, have passed away. Due to their deaths, hardly any material exists bearing these moonwalker autographs. Sold for $4,061.
