Rutherford B. Hayes check signed and made out in his hand to ”J.B. Thayer on order” in the amount of $50. Check is drawn on a Fremont, Ohio bank where Hayes lived post-presidency when this check was written on 9 November 1882. Check measures 8.25” x 3.25”, framed in wood burl with a large photo of Hayes to an overall size of 15.25” x 22”. Discreet cancellation cut and folds, otherwise near fine. Sold for $625.

Military commission signed by Rutherford B. Hayes as President. Dated 20 April 1880, document appoints Henry H. Wright to 1st Lieutenant in the Ninth Regiment of Calvary. Features a blue War Department seal, images of the American eagle across the top, and flags with military weapons across the bottom. Measures 15.5” x 19.25”. Faint docketing in upper left and heavy folds, otherwise near fine. Sold for $1,156.

President Rutherford B. Hayes large 15″ x 20.5″ signed photograph, posing alongside his wife, First Lady Lucy Webb Hayes. Rutherford signs beneath his image, “With the best wishes R.B. Hayes”. Hayes won one of the most hotly contested Presidential elections in history, resulting in the “Compromise of 1877,” an agreement that ended the military occupation of the South. Matte photo measures 15″ x 20.5″. Light dampstaining and creasing along border, and part of ink inscription removed. Very good condition. Sold for $1,109.
