Neil Armstrong Signed New York Times Special Front Page
Neil Armstrong signed print of the iconic New York Times front page announcing the Apollo 11 moon landing. The first man on the moon signs, ”Neil Armstrong” in black felt tip to the left side. Single sheet measures 11” x 14”. Near fine. A wonderful display piece. Sold for $3,844.
Neil Armstrong Signed 21 July 1969 ”New York Times” Newspaper — ”Men Walk on the Moon”
Neil Armstrong signed ”New York Times” Late City Edition newspaper dated 21 July 1969, the day after the Apollo 11 crew successfully landed on the moon. Armstrong signs his name in blue ink above the headline which reads: ”Men Walk on Moon / Astronauts Land on Plain; Collect Rocks, Plant Flag”, with a printed transcript of the first back-and-forth between Eagle and Houston, including those first words uttered by Armstrong as the lunar module landed: ”Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.” Edition includes various stories detailing the mission and includes an additional ”Apollo 11 Man and the Moon” special supplement, dated 17 July 1969, three days before Apollo 11 completed its successful mission. Supplement details preparations for the mission. Newspaper includes section 1 of the original four part paper, which runs 18pp; supplement runs 19pp. Paper measures 15.5” x 11.5” folded, with toning throughout. Overall very good to near fine. Sold for $2,623.
Neil Armstrong Signed 8” x 10” White Spacesuit Photo — Plus Signed Newspaper From 21 July 1969 Exclaiming ”Footsteps on Moon!” — With Steve Zarelli COAs
Neil Armstrong dual signed lot, including a signed 8” x 10” photo of Armstrong in his white NASA spacesuit, inscribed in black felt-tip, ”To Carin – Thanks for all your help! / Neil Armstrong”. Lot also includes ”The Cincinnati Enquirer” newspaper from 21 July 1969 exclaiming ”Footsteps on Moon!”, with Armstrong writing in fine black felt-tip, ”To Rosemary – All the Best – Neil Armstrong / Apollo 11”. Semi-glossy photo has light creasing and wear, in very good condition. Newspaper has vertical fold with tear starting at bottom of fold, chipping and toning; good to very good condition. Accompanied by a letter describing how Carin acquired the items while working as the receptionist at the building where Armstrong had his office in the 1990s; with Rosemary being her grandmother. Accompanied by two COAs from Steve Zarelli Space Authentication. Sold for $2,520.
Neil Armstrong Signed 21 July 1969 ”New Haven Journal-Gazette” Newspaper — ”We Did It!”
Neil Armstrong signed ”New Haven Journal-Gazette” newspaper dated 21 July 1969, with ”Moonday” cutely printed by the paper instead of ”Monday”, the day after the Apollo 11 crew successfully landed on the moon. Bold ”We Did It!” headline is printed in red ink above a large front-page photo of Armstrong stepping out of the Eagle and onto the moon after it landed. Armstrong signs the newspaper on the large photo ”Neil Armstrong” in blue ink. Signature is large measuring 1.5” x 2”. Caption beneath photo captures those words that Armstrong will forever be remembered for, ”That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Edition includes various stories detailing the mission throughout with play-by-play details of the journey. Newspaper measures 15.5” x 11.5” folded and runs 38pp., with toning throughout and small tears along right edge. Overall very good. Sold for $1,969.
Unique Neil Armstrong signed collectible, a ”New York Times” Special Supplement from 17 July 1969 entitled ”Man and the Moon”. Armstrong signs in ballpoint on the left side above the fold, ”Neil Armstrong / Apollo 11”. Section runs 20pp. and measures 15” x 23”. Toning, folds and light chipping as expected, overall very good condition with a bold signature. Sold for $1,250.
