Here is a Camille Pissarro signed letter we have sold in the past:
French Painter Camille Pissarro Autograph Letter Signed
Camille Pissarro (10 July 1830 – 13 November 1903) was a Danish-French Impressionist and Neo-Impressionist painter born on the island of St Thomas (now in the US Virgin Islands, but then in the Danish West Indies). His importance resides in his contributions to both Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Pissarro studied from great forerunners, including Gustave Courbet and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. He later studied and worked alongside Georges Seurat and Paul Signac when he took on the Neo-Impressionist style at the age of 54.
Camille Pissarro autograph letter signed. Dated 27 May 1889, letter to his wife Julie is written in French and translates to: “My dear Julie, Grandmother had a very bad night, she is becoming increasingly weak, although this morning saw a relative turn for the better. I think you had better send me my black frock coat, summer cotton undershorts, and a white shirt. I have some white false collars here. We are in for a disaster. We’ll soon be very sad, as you must realize – the doctor has not yet come this morning. All my love to you and the children. Your loving Husband, C. Pissarro”. 2pp. on a single-sheet of card-style stationery. Measures 4.25″ x 7″. Tiny pencil notations to upper left of first page and integral blank, else near fine. With JSA COA. Sold for $2,210.
