Wallis, Duchess of Windsor (born Bessie Wallis Warfield; 19 June 1896 – 24 April 1986), known as Wallis Simpson, was an American socialite and wife of the Duke of Windsor, the former King-Emperor Edward VIII. Their intention to marry and her status as a divorcée caused a constitutional crisis that led to Edward’s abdication.

“The Windsor Years” inscribed by King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson. Inscription by Edward on title page reads: “To J.B. Radshaw Edward Duke of Windsor” and then by Wallis Simpson, “Wallis Duchess of Windsor / 1969”. Published by Collins: London: 1967. 303 page book includes over 250 black & white photographs (many full-page), telling Edward’s life story. Lot also includes a candid photograph of the Duchess signed, “To Henshaw with many thanks for making me so comfortable / Wallis Duchess of Windsor”. Also included is a leather bookmark commemorating the original Sotheby’s auction in which the book was sold, held aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2 ship in 1997. Book measures 10″ x 13″. Light wear to dustjacket, otherwise near fine. Wear and creasing to photograph, overall good condition. Book is near fine. Sold for $1,171.
