Wallis, Duchess of Windsor (born Bessie Wallis Warfield; 19 June 1896 – 24 April 1986), known as Wallis Simpson, was an American socialite and wife of the Duke of Windsor, the former King-Emperor Edward VIII. Their intention to marry and her status as a divorcée caused a constitutional crisis that led to Edward’s abdication.

Vintage photo of the Duchess of Windsor, Wallis Simpson. Portrait of the Royal in a floral sundress and long gloves was taken by celebrity photographer Frank Turgeon, who signs the mat in pencil. His blind stamp is present to lower left corner. Framed to an overall size of 15.25″ x 18.75″. Photo has not been removed from the frame for further inspection but appears near fine. Provenance from Sotheby’s September 11-19 1997 Duke & Duchess of Windsor auction and with Sotheby’s tags. Sold for $1,760.
