John Isaacs’ Basketball Hall of Fame Trophy — Isaacs Won the First Ever World Professional Basketball Tournament in 1939
John William Isaacs (September 15, 1915 – January 26, 2009) was a Panamanian-American professional basketball player. Born in Panama but raised in New York City, he was a member of the New York Renaissance, the Washington Bears, and various other teams.
John Isaacs’ Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame trophy awarded to Isaacs upon his 11 September 2015 induction. The professional star won the very first World Professional Basketball Tournament in 1939 playing with the New York Renaissance, and again won a second title with the Washington Bears in 1943 as the lead scorer. Tall award statue features a stylized basketball-textured finial and plaque affixed to the front of the base that reads, “John Isaacs”. Plaque to back reads “Class of 2015” with wording in relief around the base of the trophy reading, “Naismith Memorial / Basketball Hall of Fame / Enshrinee”. Measures 19.5” in height with a base diameter of 7”. Weighs 9 pounds, 7 ounces. Some green patina to base, otherwise near fine condition. With an LOA from John Isaacs’ son. Sold for $18,750.
