Edward VIII & Wallis Simpson Signed Photo as the Duke

Wallis, Duchess of Windsor (born Bessie Wallis Warfield; 19 June 1896 – 24 April 1986), known as Wallis Simpson, was an American socialite and wife of the Duke of Windsor, the former King-Emperor Edward VIII. Their intention to marry and her status as a divorcée caused a constitutional crisis that led to Edward’s abdication.

Attractive photo of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, signed by each, “Edward” and “Wallis Windsor”. The couple is shown with the British flag waving behind them, with Edward saluting as Governor of the Bahamas. Matte postcard photo measures 3.5″ x 5.25″, housed in a sterling silver frame, circa 1924, with the English hallmark of Sampson & Morden measuring 4.25″ x 6.25″. Abrasion to upper left, underneath a gilt Royal Coat of Arms, which has been affixed to the top. Uneven top edge, overall very good plus condition with an exceptionally bold signature by Edward. Sold for $1,013.
