Nobel Prize Winning Physicist Wilhelm Wien Signed Postcard
Wilhelm Carl Werner Otto Fritz Franz Wien (German: [ˈviːn]; 13 January 1864 – 30 August 1928) was a German physicist who, in 1893, used theories about heat and electromagnetism to deduce Wien’s displacement law, which calculates the emission of a blackbody at any temperature from the emission at any one reference temperature.
Nobel Prize winning physicist Wilhelm Wien autograph postcard signed, written from Wuerzburg to his wife, with postmark of 20 April 1901 when Wien was studying at the University of Wuerzburg. In this letter, Wien tells his wife that he performed well on two doctoral examinations. One of the earliest recipients of the Nobel Prize, Wien also founded Wien’s displacement law, and developed theories that laid the groundwork for quantum mechanics. Postcard in German measures 5.5″ x 3.5″. Mild wear, and smudge from postmark, in very good condition. With translation. Sold for $1,800.
