John Michael “Mike” Salisbury, OBE (born March 1942) is an English documentary filmmaker specialising in natural history programmes for television. In a career spanning four decades, he spent over 30 years working for the BBC Natural History Unit where he produced a string of award-winning series, many in collaboration with David Attenborough. He retired from the Unit in 2006 but continues to work as a freelance producer. In 2007, he was made an OBE in the New Year Honours List for his services to broadcasting.

Lot of 27 “Apocalypse Now” 14″ x 11″ Unpublished Photographs From the Set, Showing Scenes From the Film & Director Francis Ford Coppola on the River
Collection of 27 unpublished photographs from the “Apocalypse Now” set, most taken by on-set photographer Michael Salisbury. Large photos measure 14″ x 11″, several showing director Francis Ford Coppola on the river boat in the Philippines where filming took place, a notoriously grueling shoot that lasted over a year. Other photos feature stills from the set, many of Vietnamese actors and children, and some also showing Salisbury who writes notes in red on the margins on a few, such as “More Details in Faces”. Nominated for eight Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director, “Apocalypse Now” is considered one of the greatest films in the history of cinema. Most photos are double-weight matte, with at least one glossy photo, all housed in Salisbury’s black portfolio measuring 15.5″ x 17.75″. Two of the photos are duplicates. Overall in very good to near fine condition. From the personal collection of Michael Salisbury. Sold for $3,250.
