Arthur Ashe’s U.S. Davis Cup Team Vest — Embroidered With His Name
Arthur Ashe’s vest from his service as U.S. Davis Cup Team Captain in 1981. Ashe broke ground as the first African American named to the prestigious U.S. Davis Cup Team in 1963, on which he also played from 1965 through 1970, 1975, 1977 and 1978. In 1966 he was named Davis Cup Captain and served in that capacity in 1967, 1971 and 1981. Red vest features navy blue trim and navy blue lettering. Ashe’s name is embroidered in dark blue to the left front breast as ”Ashe”. Adidas brand vest is size M. Fine. With an LOA from Arthur Ashe’s widow. Sold for $7,361.
Alicia Keys White Crocodile-Style Vest Worn During Her ”As I Am” Tour — With a COA From Keys
White crocodile-patterned vest worn by music superstar Alicia Keys during her ”As I Am” tour. White vest contains a zippered front along with five sparkle-encrusted buckles. Measures 32” across the bust, 6.5” down the sleeves and 26” across the waist. Overall length measures 21.75”. Red lipstick or blush stains on the buckles of the vest. Very good condition. Originally sold to benefit Keys’ charity ”Keep a Child Alive”, and with her COA. Sold for $2,500.
Sylvester Stallone 3-Part Suit From F.I.S.T. — His First Film After ”Rocky”
Three part costume worn by Sylvester Stallone in ”F.I.S.T.”, his first film after ”Rocky” and named to capitalize upon his boxing persona. Stallone edited the original Joe Eszterhas script for ”F.I.S.T.” Costume includes a brown polyester-blend suit with jacket, pants and vest. With Western Costume labels stitched to interior showing Stallone’s name in type. Very good condition with two small tears to satin of vest. Identified and consigned by Western Costume. Sold for $2,015.
Original vest owned and worn by author Truman Capote at the young age of 23, depicted in a famous photo which appeared on the dustjacket of his first book, ”Other Voices, Other Rooms,” published by Random House in 1948. Though the book was critiqued with high regard, becoming a ”New York Times” bestseller for 9 weeks, it was this photo that caused a media tizzy as it depicted Capote in what was then considered a subversive pose, lounging on a chair. The photo, taken by Harold Halma, was used in all of Random House’s promotional material, displayed in bookstore windows and newspaper ads, propelling the young author into the limelight as a public figure which followed him the rest of his career. Blue-and-white-checkered vest has a few small holes to navy lining, else near fine. Also includes a portion of the dustjacket removed from the ”Other Voices, Other Rooms” book. Vest is from the estate of Joseph Faulk, who was Capote’s first cousin. With provenance from Bonhams. Sold for $1,934.

Walter Huston Screen Worn Plaid Pants & Wool Vest From 1943 Western, ”The Outlaw”
Walter Huston screen worn wardrobe from ”The Outlaw”. Huston stars in Howard Hughes’ 1943 western as gunfighter Doc Holliday, cohort of Billy The Kid and his rival for the affections of Jane Russell. Two-piece lot comprises: (1) a beige woven vest by United Costumers of Hollywood, labeled with the actor’s name and production number 918B, and (2) a pair of plaid trousers, also by United Costumers, in rust, peach and teal. Trousers feature buttons inside the waistband for suspenders and are labeled with the actor’s name, production number and size 34 x 32. Vest shows separation to seams at the shoulder and neck, and pants show toning to waistband, else garments are near fine.
Sold for $1,513.
