G Men is a 1935 crime film directed by William Keighley and stars James Cagney, Ann Dvorak and Margaret Lindsay. Warner Brothers created the film to counteract gangster films of the early 1930s that glamorized criminals as having a life of opulence, freedom and privilege during economic downturn. The storyline revolves around James “Brick” Davis, portrayed by Cagney, who becomes a federal agent to bring a man who killed his friend to justice. G Men was one of the top-grossing films of 1935 and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Writing, Original Story.
