Playing the Ponies is a 1937 comedy short directed by Charles Lamont that features Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Curly Howard of The Three Stooges. The plot revolves around the Stooges trading the restaurant business for the horse racing industry and discover their haggard race horse can run with great speed when fed chili peppers. This short was their 26th installment out of 190 short films with Columbia Pictures. The comedy troupe was active between 1922 and 1970 and their classic slapstick routines are remembered for ubiquitous eye pokes and head bops. During their career they made both short and feature films as well as performed live shows.
