London After Midnight is a silent mystery film directed by Tod Browning and starred Lon Chaney, one of the most versatile film actors. The plot revolves around Sir Roger Balfour who is found dead in his home and, despite insistence from a neighbor he would never take his own life, is ruled a suicide by inspector Burke. After several years and many eerie events, Burke uses hypnosis to get the culprit to re-enact the murder scene and successfully identifies Balfour’s killer. The last copy of London After Midnight was destroyed in the 1965 MGM vault fire but reconstructed in 2002 using film stills and the original script.
