Apollo 12 Flown United States Flag, One of the Largest Apollo Flown Flags at 18” x 11.5” — From the Collection of Richard Gordon Who States That the Flag Landed on the Lunar Surface

Exceptionally large and rare United States flag flown aboard Apollo 12, and included on the lunar module Intrepid when it landed on the Moon in November 1969. Flag measures 18” x 11.5”, one of the largest Apollo flown flags, affixed to presentation mat measuring 20” x 16”. Mat is signed by Apollo 12 Command Module Pilot Richard Gordon, above a note stating, ”Sailed With Yankee Clipper / And Intrepid to the Ocean of Storms / November 1969”. Mild show-through of glue on flag; overall, entire presentation is near fine. From the estate of Richard Gordon. Sold for $15,000.

Apollo 1 Autographs on an 8″ x 10″ Photo — With PSA/DNA COA — Signed by Ed White, Gus Grissom & Roger Chaffee

Apollo 1 autographs on a crew photo signed by “Ed White”, “Gus Grissom” and “Roger Chaffee”. The astronauts stand in front of the Command Module on a typical day, dressed in business casual attire and smiling at the camera. Glossy photo measures 8″ x 10″. Some fading, ink notation to verso and a chip to lower left corner, else near fine. With PSA/DNA COA. Scarce.  Sold for $8,049.

Apollo 11 Signed Photo with a Wernher von Braun Autograph

Apollo 11 signed photo display. The three astronauts depicted here each sign the white space below their photos: “Neil Atg”, “M Collins” and “Buzz Aldrin”. Plus, signed by “Werner von Braun”. With NASA insignia to the upper right and an image of the plaque left on the moon stating: “Here Men From The Planet Earth First Set Foot Upon The Moon July 1969, A.D. We Came In Peace For All Mankind”. Lithograph measures 14″ x 11″ and comes in a transparent protective sleeve. Toning to verso and creasing to corners, else near fine. With PSA/DNA COA. Sold for $7,900.

Apollo 11 Crew Signed Photo

The entire Apollo 11 crew signs the mat surrounding a 7” x 7.25” glossy photo of Buzz Aldrin and the lunar lander on the surface of the moon. The three astronauts sign the 14” x 11” mat: ”Neil Armstrong”, ”M Collins” and ”Buzz Aldrin”. Some fading to signatures and minor chipping to mat. Overall near fine condition. Sold for $7,361.

Jack Swigert’s Personally Owned Apollo 13 Flown Heat Shield Plug — A Piece Which Endured Incredible Circumstances During the Famous Mission

Apollo 13 flown heat shield plug, encased in a circular piece of lucite and engraved in black along bottom, ”Apollo 13 / April 11-17, 1970”. Heat shield plugs are made of a lightweight fiberglass ”honeycomb”, which is hand-filled with an ablative resin material in order to limit heat exposure during re-entry. The crew endured incredible circumstances after launching 11 April 1970, when two days later, they were forced into an emergency turn-around before ever reaching the moon. Fortunately the astronauts expertly improvised a repair to the spacecraft and narrowly escaped disaster, ultimately returning safely to Earth. Plug measures 1.5” in diameter with ”12” engraved to bottom; lucite casing measures 3”. Near fine. With an LOA from Jack Swigert’s sister. Sold for $3,750.
