Original Eyvind Earle art, an oil painting of a California central coast valley, personally owned by Ray Bradbury. From his work as a Disney artist, Earle was known for his background illustrations of many films, and was responsible for the styling, background and colors of ”Sleeping Beauty”. Oil painting on board portrays a landscape of a California coastal mountain range in golden afternoon light, with tones in olive greens and warm yellows. Signed ”Eyvind Earle / 8.12.76” at lower right. Painting measures 41” x 31” and is framed in a large shadowbox black frame to an overall size of 54” x 44.25”. Near fine condition. With a COA from the Ray Bradbury estate. Sold for $12,500.

“It’s a Small World” original concept painting, created in 1964 for Walt Disney by Mary Blair, a “Disney Legend” who designed concept art for “Cinderella”, “Alice in Wonderland” and “Peter Pan”. Originally a pavilion at the 1964 World’s Fair, “It’s a Small World” captured the attention of Walt Disney, who commissioned Mary Blair to adapt it into a ride at Disneyland. Her subsequent artwork is presented here — a gorgeous 1960s inspired castle-themed piece in colors of pink, green and gold against a contrasting black background. The entrance to the ride is clearly evident in the artwork, referencing Blair’s mod-castle aesthetic with soft colors. Board measures 20″ x 15″.
