Author A.A. Milne and illustrator Ernest H. Shepard sign the limitation page of ”The Christopher Robin Story Book” published by E.P. Dutton & Co., Inc.: New York: 1929. Limited edition #78 of 350. This hardcover book contains 171pp. of classic Winnie the Pooh vignettes and poems with illustrations on nearly every page. Milne, a British author and playwright, based his wildly successful children’s books on his own son Christopher Robin Milne and the imaginary life of the boy’s teddy bear. Green cloth boards are partially covered by illustrated tan paper with black lettering. Bright green endpapers and deckled tail and fore-edges. Front free endpaper has a penciled marking reading ”Sippy”. Mild soiling to boards, some loss of paper to the spine label and sunning to the backstrip. Measures 7.25” x 9”. Overall in very good condition. Sold for $1,066.

Signed Limited Edition of A.A. Milne’s Masterpiece ”The House at Pooh Corner”
Rare 1928 edition of ”The House at Pooh Corner” signed by the author ”A.A. Milne” and the illustrator ”Ernest H. Shepard”. The second volume of Winnie-the-Pooh stories, this book introduces Tigger and bids an emotional farewell to Christopher Robin when he departs for boarding school. E.P. Dutton & Co., Inc.: New York: 1928. Printed the same year as the first edition, this limited edition is numbered 186 of 250 copies. Larger than the first edition, the book measures 7.25” x 9” and is bound in green cloth. Pages have a slightly glossy finish and deckled edges; black and white illustrations throughout. Front cover has a partial circular white ring and some scuffs, backstrip has some dampstaining. Covers have expected wear at the edges and corners and front joint is starting to split. The pages are tightly bound, clean, lightly discolored at the outer edges. Very good. Sold for $1,220.

Beatrix Potter signed first edition, second issue of ”The Roly-Poly Pudding”, with presentation inscription on the half-title page, ”To Miss Rigg / in remembrance of a pleasant visit to the ferry / May 1912 / from Beatrix Potter”. London: Frederick Warne & Co., 1908. Beautiful book in red publisher’s cloth features pictorial label on front cover, gilt lettering, and 18 colored plates within. Measures 6.5” x 8.25”. Separation just starting on front and mid-joint with professional restoration at upper portion, otherwise near fine condition. Sold for $1,400.
