Scarce Signature by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart — With PSA/DNA COA

signed, as the closing word is also in Mozart’s hand. Although Mozart was a prolific composer, his signature is scarce, with a two-line autograph note also signed ”Mozart” selling for over $200,000 in 2015. Signed slip measures 3” x 1.125”. Hinged at right edge to larger sip of paper. In very good condition, with a bold signature by the great composer. With PSA/DNA COA. Sold for $31,394.

George Gershwin Signed Photo

Stunning matte finish autographed 8″ x 10″ signed photo of Gershwin playing the piano. Gershwin’s influence ranges far and wide: countless singers and musicians have recorded Gershwin songs, including Fred Astaire, Louis Armstrong, Al Jolson, Bobby Darin, Art Tatum, Bing Crosby, Janis Joplin, John Coltrane, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, and Judy Garland. Franz Liszt and Joseph Viktor von Scheffel Handwritten Letters Regarding a Musical Composition by Carl Feininger

Hungarian composer Franz Liszt and German novelist Joseph Viktor von Scheffel autograph letters signed. Two separate letters are addressed to Carl Feininger, the famous German violinist living in New York City who had written to Liszt and von Scheffel asking them to critique a symphonic musicical poem he had written. Liszt and von Scheffel write letters back to Feininger offering their opinions; lot includes full translation of both letters. Liszt’s letter, dated 22 May 1871 from Weimar, Germany reads in part, “…Your symphonic music poem ‘from beginning to end’ professes to be an intellectual masterpiece, very rich in ideas…Very Sincerely Yours, F. Liszt”. Two page letter measures 4.25″ x 7″, and includes two holograph envelopes, one of which is framed. Unframed envelope is split in two, with original seal still intact. Von Scheffel’s letter, dated 21 January 1877 from Carlsruhe, Germany reads in part, “I wish to convey my thanks for the forwarding of the songs from the ‘Trompeter’…I have however the conviction, that you have created a charming piece of music and I greet you across the [ocean]. / J. Vic. v.Scheffel”. 8″ x 10.5″ letter is split into halves with some showthrough from writing on verso. A nice collection of letters with excellent association. Sold for $1,556.

Russian Composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov 1907 Autograph Note Signed — Elegantly Framed

20th century Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov autograph note signed, dated 17 May 1907 from St. Petersburg. At this point in his career, Rimsky-Korsakov was a Russian fixture, touring Europe with his popular compositions. A year after penning this note, the virtuoso passed away. Reads in full: “To Mr. Frank Seymour Hastings / from greatfully [sic] yours / N. Rimsky-Korsakov / 27 Mai 1907 / St. Petersburg”. Single page note measures 7″ x 2.5″, framed with a portrait and biography plaque of the composer against a turquoise mat to an overall size of 15.75″ x 24.5″. Toning, archivally repaired tear and chipping to lower right. Very good condition. Sold for $1,495.
