Sell Your Sex Pistols God Save the Queen Poster
Here is a Sex Pistols God Save the Queen poster we sold:
Sex Pistols 1977 “God Save the Queen” Poster
Original Sex Pistols 1977 “God Save the Queen” Virgin Records promotional concert poster designed by famed artist Jamie Reid. Designed for the album that became known as the “most heavily censored record in British history”, poster depicts a black and white Queen Elizabeth II with her features obscured by the song and band names in cutout letters against a traditional Union Jack Flag. When the record sleeves were originally printed, the UK plate makers were so offended at the Queen’s distorted image that they initially halted printing. The band was also promptly arrested after they played the song during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee. The image has now been fully subsumed by British culture and is considered by many as the greatest record cover of all time. Poster measures 37.5″ x 26.5″. Small area of paper loss at lower left corner, and minute chipping at edges. Shallow folds from being folded in eighths, as issued. Very good condition. Sold for $1,100.

Rare Sex Pistols Banned Poster — “Young Flesh Required, The Great Rock N’ Roll Swindle”
Sex Pistols original 1979 poster “Young Flesh Required, The Great Rock N’ Roll Swindle”. The infamous punk band turn their hostilities on their own record label with this very large poster designed by Jamie Reid. Banned by American Express, its image of a “Sex Pistols” credit card with “Virgin Records” named as the cardholder signifies the band’s feeling they were exploited unfairly for profit. Titles put this sentiment in no uncertain terms: “The Artist (The Prostitute) / Your name could be here. Your talents will become a source / of unlimited cash for the Record / Company (The Pimp) / The Record Company (The Pimp) / The people who own this, own you. They will spend the cash you / generate on schemes to increase / their own power. You will get a / small percentage of what you earn. The Business (The Swindle) / Played by everyone including / the Record Company The manager / the Promoter the Press the Disc Jockey / and if you’re smart, you.” Measures 39.75″ x 27.75″. Creasing, else near fine. With provenance from Christie’s. Sold for $1,182.
The Famous ”Oliver Twist Manifesto” Poster for the Sex Pistols’ Last Ever Show in Britain — Single Sided Test Print Before Poster’s Final Issue
The Sex Pistols’ notorious ”Oliver Twist Manifesto” poster promoting their legendary Christmas Day 1977 concert at the Ivanhoe in Huddersfield. This was the last show the tragic punk band would ever play in Britain. The concert was put on to benefit working class children whose parents had been laid off. Sex Pistols’ manager Malcolm McLaren designed the poster, deriving its name from McLaren’s vision of the band as a rag tag group of disenfranchised orphan boys on the streets of England. This is one of the rare single-sided test prints before the poster’s final issue as a double-sided item. Measures 11.75” x 16.25”. Three horizontal folds run through illustration and text, causing a 1” tear along right edge of center fold. Three additional small chips and tears also affect right edge. Some toning and foxing in spots, overall very good condition. Sold for $1,094.
