“Catch-22” by Joseph Heller. New York: Simon & Schuster: 1961. First edition, first printing rare book. 443pp. hardcover. Classic WWII black yarn follows the plight of paranoid American bombardier Captain Yossarian, who seeks to escape military duty on the basis of insanity. Yossarian’s appeal proves futile since, according to army regulation Catch-22, men who ask to be grounded prove sane through concern for personal safety, while truly crazy people agree to fly more missions. Lettering stamped in white on spine. Fading to spine and mild soiling to boards. Excellent edition. Sold for $818.

Harper Lee Signed 1960 First Edition, Eleventh Printing of ”To Kill a Mockingbird”
Harper Lee signed copy of her beloved Pulitzer prize-winning novel ”To Kill a Mockingbird”. Lee signs the classic novel in blue ink to the flyleaf, writing ”To Sandra / With my best wishes / Harper Lee”. Hardcover tenth impression of the first edition is bound in a dustjacket of the eleventh printing and is published by J.B. Lippincott Company: Philadelphia & New York: 1960. Runs 296pp. and measures 5.75” x 8.25”. Some toning and light foxing to page edges; book is near fine. Dustjacket is very good with chipping and creasing. Sold for $2,750.
Ray Bradbury Signed First Edition of ”Fahrenheit 451” — Rare
First edition of ”Fahrenheit 451” signed by author Ray Bradbury. Ballantine Books: New York: 1953. Bradbury’s cult classic novella is considered one of the finest literary works of science fiction, with ink illustrations by Joe Mugnaini. First edition hardback in original price-clipped dustjacket is bound in red cloth boards, measuring 5.5” x 8”. Near fine condition, with small strip of dampstaining to lower edge of front board and previous owner’s name on signature page. Dustjacket is in beautiful, near fine condition with only slight wear. Sold for $2,520.
First edition, first printing of J.D. Salinger’s ”The Catcher in the Rye.” Boston: Little Brown and Company: 1951. Present with first issue dustjacket showing $3.00 present on front flap and Salinger’s photo on rear jacket panel. Excellent copy of the coming-of-age literary masterpiece featuring Holden Caulfield, the poster boy of disenfranchised youth. 277pp. measuring 5.5” x 8”. In publisher’s black cloth with gilt titles to spine. Book is in very good condition with binding very slightly cocked, light bumping to ends, bookplate to front pastedown and faint foxing to all page edges. Dustjacket is in good condition with tape repairs to verso, minor chips at edges of folds, and a darkened spine. Overall a handsome copy of one of the most acclaimed works of 20th century literature. Sold for $1,892.
