Sell Your 1868 $3 Gold Coin ANACS AU53
The American Numismatic Association Certification Service (ANACS) is the first established American coin grading service created by the American Numismatic Association (ANA) in 1972. The ANA is a not-for-profit organization for coin, paper currency and token collectors and is authorized by the U.S. Congress. The ANACS originally issued photo certificates and graded each side of a coin separately, so older certificates will have two Sheldon Score values. In 1989 a system of encapsulating coins with a plastic tamper evident container was implemented in the grading process instead of issuing certificates. Kenneth E. Bressett has been the director of the ANACS since 1983 and edits the annually released Guide Book of United States Coins a.k.a. “The Red Book”.
