Sell Your 1914 S 50c NGC MS66
The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) is a third-party American company that authenticates, grades and encapsulates coins from across the globe, including ancient coins, medals and tokens. As one of the earliest independent coin grading services it was established in 1987 and became the official grading service of the American Numismatic Association in 1995. The NGC’s grading system utilizes the Sheldon scale ranging from 1 to 70, where a coin with a score of 70 in theory is worth 70 times more than one graded a 1. A coin is view by at least two graders during their grading process. To minimize conflict of interest the NGC’s employees are not permitted to commercially buy or sell coins.
The Barber coinage consists of a dime, quarter, and half dollar designed by United States Bureau of the Mint Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber. They were minted between 1892 and 1916, though no half dollars were struck in the final year of the series. Despite a relatively low mintage for the series, the 1914-S half dollar was issued late enough to be recovered during the coin board craze of the late 1930s.
