Don McLean’s “American Pie” RIAA Gold Record — Presented to Grammy Award Winning Master Sound Engineer George Marino & From His Estate
RIAA gold record for Don McLean’s iconic song “American Pie”, which spent 4 weeks at the top of the U.S. Billboard charts in 1972. Framed record and plaque was presented to George Marino, master engineer known for working with Don McLean, Bob Dylan, John Lennon and Guns n’ Roses. 13″ x 17″ frame includes gold record measuring 7″ above a 7″ x 3.5″ RIAA plaque reading, “PRESENTED TO GEORGE MARINO / TO COMMEMORATE THE SALE OF MORE THAN ONE MILLION COPIES OF THE UNITED ARTISTS POP SINGLE RECORD / ‘AMERICAN PIE'”. Light scratching to frame and plaque, else near fine. Sold for $1,274.

United Artist Records framed RIAA award to commemorate the sale of 400,000,000 copies of Kenny Rogers’ wildly successful 1978 album ”The Gambler.” Award is presented to Rogers’ manager Ken Kragen, and displays four silver records of side one of the album, as well as the original album cover. Silver plaque beneath records reads: ”Presented to Ken Kragen to commemorate the sale of more than 4,000,000 copies of the united Artist Records long-playing album ‘The Gambler”’. Framed to an overall size of 41” x 23”. Near fine. Sold for $954.
Framed RIAA award presented to David Gilmour of Pink Floyd for selling 500,000+ copies of ”A Momentary Lapse of Reason”. Released in 1987 through Columbia Records, it achieved the status of quadruple platinum. Framed presentation includes gold record, gold cassette and gold plaque reading, ”Presented to David Gilmour / To Commemorate the Sale of More Than 500,000 Copies of the Columbia Records Album and Cassette / ‘A Momentary Lapse in Reason”’. With RIAA hologram at bottom right. Frame measures 17” x 22”. Light wear and scratching. Overall very good condition. Sold for $938.
