Sell Your John Cassone Martian Chronicles Art

Here is a John Cassone Martian Chronicles strip we sold:

Cartoonist John Cassone Original Martian Chronicles

Ray Bradbury owned “Martian Chronicles” comic strip hand-drawn by artist John Cassone. Designed by Joseph Mugnaini and colored by Ed Carbajal, this 7-panel strip in ink portrays the Rocket Men finding their family members on Mars, only to discover that they’re eerie telepathic martians. Comic ran in the L.A. Times “West” supplemental magazine in 1972; editorial notes from its inaugural issue read: “In 1950, Bradbury published what is still his most famous book — The Martian Chronicles. Since he had long been a fan and collector of comic books, the possibility of turning that episodic book into a comic strip occurred to him immediately…it wasn’t for 22 years that the project was finally completed, thanks to a special commission from West.” Art is unsigned by Cassone, but credited in the publication. Board measures 20.5″ x 29″. Foxing and toning to edges. Very good condition overall. With a COA from the Ray Bradbury estate. Sold for $1,877.

The following are some additional comic strips we sold:

Joe Orlando Complete Six Page Story From EC Comics ”Vault of Horror #31” — From 1953 — Adapted From Ray Bradbury’s Short Story ”The Lake” — Signed by Bradbury

Complete Joe Orlando hand-drawn comic tale, “The Lake”, signed and dated “Ray Bradbury Oct, 1988″. Comic was adapted by Al Feldstein from the Ray Bradbury short story of the same name and published in the June/July 1953 issue of ”EC Comics Vault of Horror”. 40 panels in all illustrate the heart-wrenching tale of a boy who witnesses the drowning of his childhood best friend. Feldstein initially adapted Bradbury’s stories without his permission, but eventually Bradbury allowed the use of the stories and ”The Lake” is one of only two official adaptations commissioned by Bradbury. Each page has a copyright stamp to verso, and the first page contains a copyright belonging to Bradbury. Measures 15” x 22”. Pencil marks on the margins of each page. Very good. Sold for $7,500.

Ray Bradbury Personally Owned Hal Foster ”Prince Valiant” Comic

True to Foster’s iconic form, strip is intricately detailed and does not employ word balloons, instead narrated in captions positioned at the bottom of panels. Last frame is signed ”Hal Foster”. With a King Features Syndicate copyright to lower edge. Hand-drawn strip measures 25” x 35.5” overall. Tape residue in six places around the border and top part detached from lower, with no content missing. Top portion is also toned. Overall very good. With a COA from the Ray Bradbury estate. Sold for $5,625.
