Sell Your Stanley Kubrick Autograph

Here are some Stanley Kubrick autographs we have sold in the past:

Stanley Kubrick Autograph Letter Signed While Making “2001” — “…my…most sincere hopes for Miss X. She sounds so good it could be a come on for a wife-swapping ad in the Enquirer…”

Stanley Kubrick autograph letter signed, dated 26 March 1967. Here, the director writes to New York University physicist and personal friend, Jeremy Bernstein. Bernstein wrote a famous “New Yorker” profile of the director as he was making “2001: A Space Odyssey”. Reads in full: “Congratulations and my suspenseful and most sincere hopes for Miss X. She sounds so good it could be a come on for a wife-swapping ad in the Enquirer. There is a good chance we will return to London after the film opens so it would be great if you did come to Imperial College. Your parents probably told you they visited the studio. I don’t know what impression they got of things. I hope they found it interesting. Your father reminds me of Omar Bradley and your mother of you, though you (sound) speak exactly like your father. I’d like to see the Oppenheimer obituary. I enjoyed the piece you sent. I do hope you work things out to your satisfaction.” Signed “Stanley” in bold, black ink. Letter on one page is lined and measures 8″ x 12″. Very minor toning and folds throughout, else very good to near fine. Sold for $1,291.

It sounds to me like you are about ready to do your first work of ‘fiction.’ The drama of the academic scene is much more intense than one would have imagined. What a villainous person he sounds like. The movie is going well. I am not sure of the date about coming back to New York. Let me know how things turn out.” Signed “Stanley” in blue ink. Letter measures 7.25″ x 10.5″. Very minor toning, else near fine. Sold for $983.

Bernstein wrote a famous profile of Kubrick as he was making ”2001: A Space Odyssey” and here mentions the article’s completion and run date. It sounds pretty grim. I’d like to see the sketch. I suppose you saw the Newsweek piece. I don’t think it could have been less accurate. At least Arthur sounds dumb this time, ‘I think there’s another world out there, etc.”’ Signed ”Stanley”. Arthur refers to Arthur C. Clark, the author of the short story upon which ”2001: A Space Odyssey” was based, and with whom Kubrick wrote the screenplay. Letter on one page measures 8.5” x 11”. Stanley Kubrick 1967 Typed Letter Signed — ”…Things like this make you realize how pleasant physical violence must be as a short cut to problem-solving…”

Stanley Kubrick typed letter signed, dated 11 February 1967. Letter is addressed to New York University physicist and friend of the director, Jeremy Bernstein. Bernstein wrote a famous profile of Kubrick as he was making ”2001: A Space Odyssey” and the two remained friends. Reads in full: ”I’m awfully sorry about the NYU thing. Although your letters still have the customary lilt I can imagine what a rotten pain in the ass it has been. Things like this make you realize how pleasant physical violence must be as a short cut to problem-solving. Someday they’ll write about how NYU lost Bernstein who first discovered that Good’s Law was in fact correct. Anyway, I haven’t heard from Lederman. Which ‘delicious but elusive’ girl? All goes well…” Signed ”Stanley” in black ink. Letter on one page measures 8” x 10”. Minor toning and tape residue to verso, else near fine. Sold for $300.

I’ve gotten quite a lot of letters from people I haven’t heard from, and even from some that I never expected to hear from again, all saying how much they like it. I am sorry that the weaknesses of human nature seem also to exist on the academic level. I do hope that things work out. Let me know. Everyone sends their love.” Signed in black ink, ”Stanley”.
