Harry Truman White House China
The White House China service from the Truman administration was manufactured by Lenox and reportedly cost $26,944 for the 1,572 piece set. With the remodeling of the State Dining Room during Truman’s presidency, the green shade of the china was selected to match the new color of the room’s ceiling.

Harry S. Truman White House Exhibit China — Cup & Saucer by Lenox — Fine
Cup and saucer in the Harry Truman White House pattern, part of the special Exhibit edition used when presidential china is put on display. The Truman pattern was used in the White House from Truman’s administration through the administrations of Eisenhower and Kennedy. Cup and saucer in cream color porcelain feature a border of sage green with embossed gilt bands, gilt rim and gilt handle, with a gilt presidential seal on the cup at 6 o’clock and on the saucer at 12 o’clock. The Lenox White House Exhibit Collection maker’s mark is present to the undersides and dated 1951. Cup measures just over 2” in height and 4” in diameter at the mouth. Saucer measures just over 6” in diameter. Fine condition. From the Raleigh DeGeer Amyx Collection. Sold for $3,750.
Scarce President Harry Truman Official White House China Plate — Fine
White House exhibit edition china plate of the design commissioned by President and First Lady Truman. Verso of plate features the famed Lenox watermark and reads, ”Exhibit Collection for Lenox Inc. / The White House 1951”. As a part of the ”exhibit collection”, this plate was designated to serve in displays of White House china or go on loan to various Presidential exhibits. Design features the Great Seal of the U.S. in gilt on the rim, with a pine green stripe flanked by gilt bands at the edge and a single gilt ring around the center. Made by Lenox, one of the United States’ only producers of ”bone china”, which is distinguished for its white luminosity and chip resistance. Measures 10.5” in diameter, in fine condition. Sold for $1,563.
