King George I Autograph Sold
King George I was a native of Hanover in North Germany and ruled Great Britain and Ireland beginning in 1714. Additionally, he was the first British monarch of Hanover. The monarchy’s powers declined during his regime and Britain began to evolve into a cabinet government managed by a prime minister. Robert Walpole is considered the de facto first Prime Minister of Great Britain and had most of the political power at the end of George’s reign.
