Original Never B4 Seen Beatles George Harrison Photos
George Harrison MBE (25 February 1943 – 29 November 2001) was an English musician, singer-songwriter, and music and film producer who achieved international fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles. Sometimes called “the quiet Beatle”, Harrison embraced Indian culture and helped broaden the scope of popular music through his incorporation of Indian instrumentation and Hindu-aligned spirituality in the Beatles’ work. Although the majority of the band’s songs were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney, most Beatles albums from 1965 onwards contained at least two Harrison compositions. His songs for the group include “Taxman”, “Within You Without You”, “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, “Here Comes the Sun” and “Something”.
George Harrison photo album, containing 39 unpublished photos of the Beatle at and near his home in Friar Park, the 62-acre estate in Henley-on-Thames, England. Photographs were taken by conceptual artist Michael Salisbury for Harrison’s eponymous 1979 album “George Harrison” and feature Harrison in various locales of his expansive home, including the gardens, grotto and the nearby town. Glossy photos all measure 5″ x 3.5″, housed in a pale pink 8.25″ x 11.75 leather photo album, with Salisbury’s signature on front pastedown. At this time in 1979, Salisbury had recently finished working with Michael Jackson, perfecting Jackson’s look for his debut album “Off the Wall”. From the personal collection of Michael Salisbury. Sold for $2,200.
