Comedian Rowan Atkinson’s Costume as Mr. Bean From The 1997 Film ”Bean”
Costume worn by slapstick comedian Rowan Atkinson in character as bumbling Brit Mr. Bean. Atkinson’s buffoon has entertained global audiences for decades, likely owing in part to classic near-silent physical comedy performances inspired by the jesters of silent film. Ensemble comprises: (1) single-breasted wool jacket in moss green tweed, with leather elbow patches and a pair of 1” slits in the back, likely production caused to accomodate rigging, (2) white dress shirt by Jihel Chemiserie with a 3” tear in the back, again likely production caused. No size is indicated, (3) thin red tie with light blue embroidered dots, (4) brown wool trousers in approximate size 35 x 29, (5) pair of full brogue Oxford shoes in black leather by Church’s of England, measuring 12” from heel to toe, (6) digital wristwatch by Casio with ”Telememo” feature on the bezel. Attached to a brown leather band, (7) slim brown leather belt with square metal buckle in size 110. Lot is in very good to near fine condition overall. Sold for $2,648.
