The 1960 World Series was between the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates. Seven games were played and the series ended following a home run during the ninth inning by Pirates second baseman Bill Mazeroski, the first time a World Series was ended with a walk-off home run. Although the Yankees lost, they scored a record 55 runs, the highest number scored by a single team in the World Series. The 1960 Yankees lineup included MVPs Yogi Berra, Roger Maris, Bobby Shantz, Mickey Mantle and Elston Howard.
