Sandy Koufax is considered one of the great pitchers in the MLB and arguably one of the most famous players in the Dodgers franchise. He was a left-handed pitcher between 1955 to 1966 playing exclusively for the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers. Koufax has numerous accolades to his name including a four time World Series Champion, seven-time All Star, five-time National League ERA leader and four-time MLB strikeout leader. Koufax retired from his baseball career in 1966 at age 30 due to arthritis in his elbow. He threw four no-hitters and was the first MLB player to do so. His career ERA was 2.76 and had 2,396 strikeouts. Koufax was the youngest person to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame at age 36. Following his playing career he worked as a broadcaster, minor league pitching coach for the Dodgers and Special Advisor for the Dodgers.
