WWII German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel autograph letter signed, “Erwin”. Upon a postcard, Rommel writes to his wife, in part, “Dearest Lu [Lucia Maria]…Tonight a guest as ‘Illustrious Highness’ – Hopefully you have fully recovered. How about a hot bath…In my thoughts I am…happy in the park at our house and in the garden. Most sincere greetings and kisses…” Silver gelatin Ursula Blau photograph on the verso shows the Schlob Cecilienhof, the last palace built by the ruling Hohenzollern family and the location of the 1945 Potsdam Conference. Measures 5.5″ x 3.5″ Silvering to photo, else near fine. With PSA/DNA COA. Sold for $1,307.
Erwin Rommel 1939 WWII-Dated Postcard With Autograph Note Signed — ”Heil Hitler…E. Rommel”
Erwin Rommel postcard signed, dated 16 November 1939 from Berlin. The German field marshal adds a handwritten note in German reading in part, ”…it looks like old Mountaineers are moving into the uncertain fray…” Rommel was promoted to general in August 1939 and became Hitler’s confidante, though he was known to have participated in the plot to overthrow the Fuhrer. As he often did, he signs this postcard, ”Heil Hitler…E. Rommel”. Minor soiling and creasing to 5.75” x 4” postcard, else very good plus condition. Accompanied by full translation. Sold for $1,109.
