Sell Your 1954 Bowman Richie Ashburn #15 PSA 9
Richard Ashburn was a center fielder in the MLB who played between 1948 through 1962 for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and New York Mets. Hailing from a farm in Tilden, Nebraska one of the nicknames he had was The Tilden Flash. While he wasn’t known as a power hitter, he was an excellent leadoff hitter and was a league leader in on base percentage for several seasons. Ashburn had more hits in the 1950s than any other player, retiring with a career batting average of .308 and was a two-time batting champion of the National League. Following his playing career he began working as a TV and radio color commentator for the Phillies and was known for his dry wit. The book Richie Ashburn: Why The Hall Not? explains how a longtime fan petitioned for Ashburn’s induction into National Baseball Hall of Fame by collecting nearly 200,000 signatures.
