George Munger was an MLB pitcher who played ten seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates between 1943 and 1956. Known for having a dominating fastball and curveball He pitched an entire game against the Boston Red Sox during the 1946 World series helping the Cardinals become the World Series champion that year. Munger was a National League All-Star during the 1944, 1947 and 1949 seasons. Twice in his career he won 15 games or more in a season with the 1947 season going 16-5 with 13 complete games. Following his playing career he and his family settled in Houston where he briefly scouted for the Houston Colt 45s, worked for a local brewery and was employed as a private investigator.
